Souleymane Djalo

Director of Expansions, Washington

I'm Souleymane or as Abby calls me "Souleymonster". I am a first generation West African (Guinea and Senegal) and my parents came to America for a better life of opportunities. I attended the Indiana University of Bloomington where I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Informatics. After graduation this crazy thing called Covid happened and I was forced into a position to help support my family as the breadwinner with my position at Lowe's corporate office. After leading my division in every metric for 18 months and not being approved for a promotion, I decided to take on more of a results based industry. I found a home at Credence!

What's your favorite part about your position?

As an director I love the entrepreneurial spirit and aspect of our business. I can be the change that I want to see and directly give back to others by utilizing the opportunity that was presented to me from Ms. Caudill herself. I am extremely fortunate to have found someone who believes in me the way she does. The fact that I'm in the position to do that for other people means the world to me.

What's the best advice you've gotten in our business?

The best advice I've ever gotten is to trust myself. Having faith and the work ethic to back it up can make anyone successful. I believe I am a hard worker with good intentions, so there is no reason to second guess or doubt the decisions I make. I can fail forward and improve along the way of my career journey.

What are your goals? (Both professional and personal)

My personal goals are to buy a house by the end of 2025 and to open an Islamic bank within the next 5 years. My religion means a lot to me and I want to provide the opportunity and resources for brothers and sisters to bank compliantly. Creating generational wealth for the ones after me is a big personal goal as well.

My business goal is to promote another director by the end of the year to run and manage a territory of their own. I am pushing to be an organizational leader before the 4th quarter of 2025. I plan on also running another division next year to open more doors and show the art of possible. Whatever I do I want to be the best and a pioneer for others to follow.

Where is your favorite place to travel?

Exotic islands and beaches come to mind, but I love traveling back to the motherland of West Africa. This puts life into perspective and pushes me to attain everything I set out to do. I would love to make a pilgrimage to Mecca with my wife this upcoming year for Hajj as well.

What are some of your hobbies?

As a father I love spending time with my kids and watching them grow and learn new things constantly. Spending time with my wife and studying our faith adds guidance and meaning to parenting as well. I am also a huge sports fan and will forget where I'm at or what I'm doing if an NFL conversation pops up.

Fun fact about yourself

Fun fact is I used to wrestle in high school! I once lost 16 pounds in 4 days. After a few injuries I decided to decline my collegiate offers and to go to IU on a full ride academic scholarship instead.

Anything else?

Credence really showed me what I put into my life is what I'm going to get out. Entitled is the worst way to be and gratitude is the only way to multiply the blessings in your life. Ask for help and be vulnerable with your mentors. You will not walk in as a finished product but you definitely will leave as a better person then when you started. Abby, Krista, Erin, Porchea, and Kennadie all have the best interest of each and every person who walks through the front doors. As long as you apply an entrepreneurial mentality, even the sky's not a limit for you here.
